Director of WiSE Appointed to the UN Crisis Bureau Experts Roster for Rapid Responses

Professor Sara Cantillon, Director of Wise Centre for Economic Justice, has been appointed to the UN Crisis Bureau Experts Roster for Rapid Response to mitigating the impacts of the Covid pandemic.  Professor Cantillon said she was “honoured and delighted as it provides an opportunity for WISE to contribute a feminist economics and gender perspective to socio economic response and recovery plans globally. We have already done so nationally in our input, led by Dr O Hagan, to the Scottish Government Advisory Group on Economic Recovery and welcome the opportunity to do so internationally. The pandemic is deepening existing inequalities and exposing vulnerabilities in our economic, political and social systems. WISE hopes to play its part in ensuring recovery plans build back better to a more equal world that is more resilient to future crises”
