WISE Researcher launches new book on gender budgeting
On 9th May, the Department of Social Sciences, Media and Journalism is hosting the launch of a new book co-edited and written by Dr Angela O’Hagan. Professor Diane Elson, Visiting Professor to WISE Centre and Dr Angela O’Hagan will present ‘Gender Budgeting in Europe: Developments and Challenges’ to an invited audience of academics, policy makers and activists. The volume is the result of collaboration across the European Gender Budgeting Network which Angela jointly co-ordinates with Elisabeth Klatzer who is the other co-editor. ‘Gender Budgeting in Europe’ is the first of its kind, bringing together academic analysis of gender budgeting as a tool of feminist policy change, the implications for public finance management, a critique of austerity policy, and a practical focus on developments in methods, practice and outcomes across Europe. With over 20 contributors and 8 case studies, this book is a rich and current account of gender analysis and government budgets.
