International focus on gender and equality budgeting in Scotland.
Dr Angela O’Hagan was invited to address a specialist seminar on post-legislative scrutiny organised by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy held at the Scottish Parliament on 10 November. Angela drew on developments in budget scrutiny to advance equality in Scotland and internationally from her research on a forthcoming edited volume on gender budgeting in Europe. Participants in the seminar included government officials from UK and Scottish Governments as well as parliamentarians from Scotland and UK and representatives from international development organisations and overseas governments. The Scottish experience of development gender and equalities budgeting which has been a central area of research and policy advisory activity by the WISE Research Centre for a number of years will feature in a specialist workshop on alternative futures for public finance management organised by the International Budget Project in Washington DC which Angela O’Hagan will participate in on 12-13 December.
