WiSE Research Centre is delighted to announce the launch of the McKay Annual Lecture in honour of its founder, the late Professor Ailsa McKay. The inaugural lecture will be given by Professor Nancy Folbre, UMass Amherst, on 11 May 2016 at 4pm in the Deeprose Lecture Theatre, GCU.
Professor Folbre is a preeminent feminist economist who focuses on economics and the family, non market work and the economics of care. Professor Folbre is the recipient of numerous awards including the National Science Foundation, the Charlotte Perkins Gilman Fellow; McArthur Foundation fellowship and the Leontief Prize. She was President of IAFFE in 2002, an associate editor of Feminist Economics since 1995 and an editor on the Journal of Women, Politics and Policy. Her paper is entitled “The Political Economy of Patriarchal Systems” and she will be welcomed to GCU by the Principal, Professor Pamela Gilles. Afterwards, Professor Folbre will launch the book edtied by Jim Campbell and Morag Gillespie (eds) celebrating the life and work of Professor McKay “Feminist Economics and Public Policy: Reflections on the work and impact of Ailsa McKay”
