The Women in Scotland’s Economy (WiSE) (http://www.gcu.ac.uk/wise/) research centre requires a Professor in Economics to take on the role of Director and hence continue the pioneering work undertaken by the late Professor Ailsa McKay and colleagues. The WiSE Research Centre has promoted and made visible women’s role in the economy and has also made a significant contribution to the policy debates in Scotland through high quality research, consultancy and knowledge transfer activities.
The Department is seeking to appoint an energetic and inventive individual with a bold and forward thinking vision for leading and promoting research and public engagement into gender, inequality and public policy, as demonstrated through the activities of WiSE. This individual would also be expected to provide academic leadership in the subject area, Department and wider School in addition to a teaching contribution in key offerings that explore issues of gender and the macro-economy, such as our MSc International Development programme.
