Professor McKay appointed to Expert Working Group for Welfare
Director of WiSE and Economics Professor Ailsa McKay (Glasgow School for Business and Society) has been invited to sit on the Expert Working Group on Welfare, which is due to start work on the development of an independent Scottish welfare system, in the event of a yes vote in next year’s independence referendum.
She is one of five new appointments to the committee, which is made up of leading figures in welfare and care provision, business and academia.
Having made initial recommendations to Scottish Ministers in June, the Expert Working Group on Welfare will now consider medium and long-term policy and delivery options for a welfare system if Scotland chooses to be independent.
It will report to Ministers in early 2014.
