MSc International Tourism and Event Management student Kirstie-Ann Hurrell discusses her time at the university so far, the opportunities offered to her and her future plans and goals.
Why you chose to study your course at GCU?
I had heard about the course while volunteering for Cancer Research. I chose it as I found I was really passionate about working events, and those who were doing the course couldn’t sing its praises higher.
Favourite thing about studying your course at GCU?
The support. The lecturers and LDC were brilliant when it came to help with assessments.
What opportunities have been offered to you through studying your course at GCU?
I now work at the Moffat Centre at GCU.
Has studying your course at GCU prepared you for working life?
I now work in research while I will be continuing to be an event assistant at Cancer Research.
Favourite module studied and why?
Finance, mainly because of the Lecturer, Prof John Lennon. There was a lecture on the NC500, a topic I enjoy, which became my dissertation topic.
What is your plan when you finish studying?
I am happily working full time.
What is your 5-year plan?
Potentially a PHD, potentially an event management job with Cancer Research.
