2022 International Fashion Branding graduate Charlotte Dalgleish shares her insight into life at GCU and life after graduating from university.
I chose to study at GCU because…
I chose to study at GCU because it offered an amazing course that I hadn’t seen anywhere else. It was also in a city that I loved and it seemed like the perfect fit.
The most important aspect of my university experience has been…
The most important aspect of my university experience has been the practical knowledge I gained. Throughout my 4 years at GCU we have been getting trained for industry and were faced with real life issues and even got to work with real brands that I was passionate about. I feel this has made me ready for the real world and I feel much more prepared.
My biggest lesson learned so far is…
My biggest lesson learned so far is that time goes so quickly. If I could go back and make more of my time here I would. Also, the amount of support the university gives is amazing. Throughout my 4 years I feel I have grown in confidence and become good at showing my skills and working as a team. The assignments and projects I have done have definitely made me grow as a person and helped me learn new things about myself.
I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because…
I’m proud to be part of the University for the Common Good because I have overcome challenges that I thought I’d be facing for the rest of my life. My confidence has soared, I jump into new challenges without a second thought, and I am excited for the next stage in my life, which used to scare me. GCU has shown me that I am important and I am needed to make change.
I get my inspiration from…
I get my inspiration from my family. They are all so successful in what they do and absolutely love their jobs. It was them who also inspired me to apply for my course, so I guess I also have them to thank.
My next steps look like…
My next steps will be to enjoy this summer and be proud of myself for graduating as it still doesn’t feel real! After it has all sunk in I will chase my dream job. Thanks to my course, I have been given real industry knowledge and have built a great portfolio I can bring along the way. I hope to be successful in everything I do but I will not be discouraged if I don’t get there straight away, as from what I have learned through my 4 years at GCU is that nothing happens overnight and good things take time.
You are most likely to bump into me…
The canteen!
You are most likely to bump into me in the library, trying to find some peace and quiet! Somewhere I am able to fully concentrate without distractions. Out with GCU, you’ll most likely bump into me socialising with my friends, who have made this experience what it is.
