Staff Consultation Process – March until May

A series of combined meetings will take place within each of the Academic Schools and with the staff in Learner Support.  The Moving Forward team will join with members of staff from the Student Experience and College Articulation Projects.  This process will inform the direction of the GCU Transition and Progression Framework.

Student Focus Group Event 5th February 2008

This event provided an opportunity for the Project team to hear the individual issues associated with progression and retention from the student perspective. Students shared their experiences of their first year at GCU in terms of their transition to GCU, student induction, their experiences of the learning, teaching, assessments and exams, feedback, and the facilities provided at GCU.

Kerri-Lee Krause Seminar 25th February 2008

 The Caledonian Academy in conjunction with the Moving Forward Project, recently played host to a visit by Professor Kerri-Lee Krause of Griffith University, Australia.  Kerri-Lee as part of the programme of institutional visits being organised by the First Year Experience Quality Enhancement Theme, provided a stimulating presentation relating to the issues surrounding progression and retention.  Kerri-Lee shared the outcomes of Research and Development work on the Student Experience in Australian Universities, with a specific focus on strategic implications for policy and practice. The seminar was well attended by various members of staff throughout the University and received very positive feedback.

Re-scheduled Moving Forward Event 20th May 2008

The Service Design Event, which unfortunately had to be postponed in February, will now be replaced with a Moving Forward Event, which will take place on Tuesday the 20th May 2008.  More details will follow shortly.
