In most cases, yes. The A-Z list of databases tells you which are available on-campus only.

Use our search tips page to get started. We also have help sheets and online tutorials which are in SMILE - on the library tab in GCULearn. The databases all have help screens, and you can ask your librarian if you need more advice.

Yes, the A-Z of databases list tells you if you need a password. Most of our databases use the Athens system, but some use other password systems.

Until you know the names of the ones you want it’s best to start from our subject guides. Most have a section listing the best databases for your subject. There is also a full A-Z of databases.

If it is not on the a-z database list, then we don’t subscribe to it!
