Happy Mother’s Day
May 13, 2012 by tanvee · 2 Comments · Uncategorized
On second sunday of May Mothers Day is celebrated in India.
On this Day (May 13th) I am really missing my mom a lot. This is the 1st time ever that I have gone so far from her and living on my own
Living alone has made me realize the importance of my mother in my life. Actually there should not be just one day to celebrate and tell our mothers how much we love them, it should be almost everyday cause mothers are gods best creation.
So on the occasion of Mothers Day I would like to share something to my MUMMY
Dearest MUMMY,
Its been exactly 4 months since I left for Glasgow. I never really told you this but I missed you the second I went inside the airport terminal. For all these 21 years I know that I have not been the best daughter to you but surely I tried my best.
Living here has made me realize that you mean a world to me. I am so dependent on you for tiniest of things that I never really cared that you took a lot of efforts to do certain things for me. Coming here I can tell you for sure that I would never ever crib about the food u cook and never really criticize you ever.
You are the most important person in my life and I love you so very much.
On this day I would really like to thank you for giving me such a great and comfortable life and making me the person I am today. And I surely promise you that I will always make you proud and never let you down. I would be the best daughter to you as you have been the best mother to me. I will try not to argue with you ( though I like it a lot) and be a good person as you always hoped me to be.
So my sweet sweet mummy ,
Wishing a Happy Mother’s day
with lots of love from your loving child,
Tanvee
P.S: I hope that you will not miss my greeting cards now.

I have no idea how long it has been since the last entry. It been a long 2 months for me especially with submissions and exams.
The worst part of being the masters student is the submissions and exams and the best of master student is submission and exam. According to me the exam phase is the best. Many people find it weird but I don’t. So again due to exams and submission I had no time to write and for that a huge SORRY!!!!
But In the upcoming posts I will describe about the time after my exams and our trips around scotland.
So till then
BBYE

Holi Hai…..
March 10, 2012 by Apurva · No Comments · Uncategorized
Yesterday had lots of fun…Even though we missed playing Holi in India, we managed to play holi here in Glasgow…
As Tanvee told, we all went to Hindu temple on 7 March, had our prayers and people there had lit a small bonfire where we all worshiped. I miss the puran- poli which is the main delicacy during this Holi Paurnima (1st day of Holi).
And then yesterday was colour celebration (2nd day of Holi), we all played with colors; most important with safe and non-toxic colours… Threw colors on each other saying ”Holi hai re holi, bura na mano holi hai”. The atmosphere was filled with joy and lots of fun. Its was amusing to color every one. Got to meet so many Indian Friends. I played Holi after 6 Years, Thanks to GCU Indian Social Group President Sandhya, we all enjoyed & had wonderful HOLi celebration!!!!!
Most important, Holi is celebration to bring people together and having fun, and that is what we did, we all thoroughly enjoyed this event….

Missing Holi..

The one drawback of living outside the country is that you don’t get to celebrate all the festivals and cannot eat all the special delicacies.
This holi I felt a bit same. Just that in Glasgow you can find a Mini-India. The Hindu temple here in Glasgow celebrated Holi the same way as we do it back in India. Though it might feel bit different, but the fact that we could celebrate our festivals like the way we used to do in India made me feel so GOOD.
But the main focus of Holi is just not lighting the Bonfire but playing with colours. And yes at GCU we are playing Holi. That is today.
Just can’t wait to play holi. This feels good. After being away from home it kinda feels that you miss all the festivities. But I feel lucky to be here. My holi this year would be a complete new experience. Just looking forward to it.
Will upload all the details on the blog shortly.
till then,
Bye

Glasgow and Weather
February 22, 2012 by tanvee · No Comments · Uncategorized
Hello everyone,
Last week was pathetic. 2 assessment in one week is too much to take in.. Oh god I am still catching up on my lost sleep !!!:P
But the best was the weekend trip to Loch Lomand. This place is LITERALLY heaven on earth. I felt as though I was in Switzerland. Felt amazing. The village of Luss which I visited was so beautiful that I almost wished I had a house there. Scotland is so beautiful. So loving the experience out here.
On the positive side the weather on our trip was sunny. It felt as though heaven wanted us to visit loch Lomand. Hope to see such weather more and more.
Being in Glasgow has made me realise that its easy to roam around in Scotland. Glasgow is in center on Scotland. Just hoping to see the entire Scotland during my stay here.
And talking about weather, this week is just rains and wind. I am so tired of this gloomy weather. It kinda makes me sad and gloomy and to add to it course work completion makes it worse. I just hope to see the sun or the snow soon. Its so ironic that when the entire UK suffered from the worst snowfall, in Glasgow there was no trace of snow. all was sunny and bright.
Hmmm.. I guessI have to get use to the unpredictable weather here. Good for me.
Its a good bye from me now. Cya soon.
Tanvee.
Weekends in Glasgow!!!!
February 12, 2012 by Apurva · 2 Comments · Uncategorized
Hi Guys!!!
The best part of being in Glasgow is that one gets to enjoy both studies and also enjoy exploring places. After busy schedule in weekdays one gets weekends off here…..its like studying for the whole week and then enjoying weekends exploring Glasgow and places around it. All Teachers at GCU are really friendly and cool, they give you advice on places to visit and tell you what to do on weekends!!!! Isn’t it Cooool….
Yesterday I went to Sterling Castle, which was amazing. loved its architecture and its history. It’s on Castle Hill, the view from the castle is beautiful. Had amazing time and had fun with friends.

A fun night!!
February 7, 2012 by tanvee · 5 Comments · Uncategorized
So sorry guys,
Had loads of assignments and coursework to complete that totally forgot to update about ceilidh ..
It was the most fun nights I had in recent years. So basically in a ceilidh you dance in a traditional Scottish way on traditional Scottish tunes. So there was a ma who taught us the steps and we danced to the tunes. It was a so fun dancing to those tunes with those steps.
The food served was the traditional Scottish food which is Haggits, nips and pattis. Haggits is like mutton kheema, nips is turnips halwa..(similar to carrot halwa an Indian delicay) and pattis is smashed potatoes. The food was very delicious though I was not comfortable eating haggits. But all an all we had a yummy meal..
I also came to know that ceilidh is organised 2 times a year so waiting for the next ceilidh which would be in September.
The best part was that 2 of our professors also joined us in dancing.
so I would just like to tell everyone who has never attended ceilidh… Please Please attend it atleast once. I can guarantee you that It would be an unforgettable experience of your life..
check out some of our pics..
P.S. Just observe my and Apurvas pictures. We both had painted the Indian and the Scottish flag on our cheeks.
