Following their proposal presentation students are asked to take into account the comments received from module staff and fellow students (where appropriate) and develop this proposal into a full scale case study.
The purpose of this case study is to allow students to develop a theoretical and practical response to a contemporary issue impacting upon events practice in the form of a case study. This case study should isolate a contemporary issue or scenario focused upon a particular event or organisation, examine the key management theories and issues surrounding this topic and discuss the potential current and future implications of this issue upon management practice within the events industry. Issues discussed in the proposal should be further developed to provide a comprehensive overview and critical appraisal of the issue/scenario identified and its implications.
In their case study students are expected to cover the following topics:
- Introduction to issue/scenario
- History of the event/organisation
- Context of the issue/scenario
- Critique of key management theories relating to the issue/scenario and their practical application
- Implications for current and future practice
- Conclusions and recommendations
The case study should be written as a formal report utilising Harvard Referencing with a full reference list being given at the end of the submission.
The word count for this assessment is 4000 words.
This assignment should be submitted to Debbie Hossick (Debbie.Hossick@gcu.ac.uk) by 5pm on Monday 13th December 2010.
