Welcome to the module Contemporary and Comparative Practice in Events!  This module aims to offer a means by which students can make sense of comparative professional events environments in the international arena and use this information to examine critically their own professional practice.

This module differs from previous ones in that the first four lectures will be taught by module staff, with the aim of providing students with an understanding of relevant management theories and paradigms which impact upon events practice, while the final four lectures will take the form of guest lectures from events practitioners and specialists from elsewhere within the University.  The purpose of the final four lectures is to provide students with an appreciation of current contemporary issues facing the sector.

We hope that this module will be both interesting and engaging and urge you to make use of this blog site; this will be particularly beneficial when it comes to developing your assignments for this module.  In this module you will be asked to produce your own case study!

We would ask that you familiarise yourselves with this site and the module handbook and do not hesitate to contact us if you have a query about the module.

It only remains for us to wish you the best of luck in the forthcoming semester!  We look forward to conversing with you in the coming weeks and seeing you at the first teaching weekend in October.
